New Year 2009

With Saturn in your opposing sign and in dramatic aspect to Pluto, you may see that partners have stronger views on what is needed for your future, or higher ambitions for themselves, than you had previously realized. They have perhaps forged an understanding of things being one particular way and cannot alter the mind-set. Whoever they are and in whatever bracket these people are significant to your life and can make or break the bank in the next few weeks with what they have in mind - or in hand. However, you may have encouraged much of this yourself with a passionate expressive support of things you considered, or still consider, enjoyable. Maybe you didn't realize how seriously you would be taken in the latter moths of last year when you proposed certain revolutionary moves for the sake of leisure, recreation or change of lifestyle. Is it too late to retract? Possibly, but the time between the third week of January and the second week of March unfreezes a deadlock of some kind and may give you something of a break in which you can consider what else might be substituted for these speculative or unsustainable ventures.

The very start of the year sees the retrograde motion of Mercury, since just after Christmas, calling for a serious declaration of position so that everyone is aware of where you stand. And maybe a firming up of intentions mooted in the first half of December and representing the more responsible side of your character in any undertaking revolving around responsibility with others. However frivolous things might be in motive (and with Jupiter in pisces from mid-January there could well be a lot of that in the pipeline) they still require serious debate and even more serious organisation. The consequences to the way this is handled can be seen in April and May when things show not only good value but lasting value, and if this is the case it takes your previously shaky faith in heartfelt desires to a better basis for continuation of the what is involved.

The presence of Venus with Jupiter in late February will bring a sense of the surreal, or a touch of mystery, but it could well fuel the fires of the revolutionary or extravagant designs laid without enough planning or preparation, and this brings a need to separate the whimsical and temporary from the permanent novelty: it is possible to have a constant stream of new ideas on a moving vehicle which endures due to good maintenance. So subject the more metaphysical or academic processes of the first half of 2010 to an actual trial run in June and July and then understand the need for deeper knowledge or information by September. If you can't feel confident within the independence required in June and July then you need to have realization of this and move towards the building of it for the start of 2011 when Jupiter in your own sign demands your ability to accept new challenge and the resolution to see it through - all of which arians are here for. As with everyone of us, your purpose in life unfolds as you know what you can do and how to do it. It's a preparatory year, Aries, and at times one for escape from the humdrum to stimulate the imagination.

May Update

The big thing is that both Uranus and Jupiter will enter your sign in June, though Jupiter retrogrades for a few months in mid-July. This combination brings about the most unique of situations, opportunities or openings. The fact that Jupiter only goes a little of the way with the debut Uranus is making into aries means that there is a limited window where the support of Jupiter - the greater benefic - smooths the impact of cutting edge changes and heightens the confidence for bravery, even audacity. Doing things with penache and vigour and more than a little originality is the order of the day.

Whilst the ever vigilant Saturn and the irrefutable influence of Pluto remain loosely in co-operation around your most sensitive and personal life, it has to be mentioned that Saturn has entered momentarily into virgo and will be concerned with finishing off old situations over which you had little control in 2009 in ways which now offer you greater laxity or leeway than was previously the case. Take advantage of this until the third week of July when Saturn goes forward again into libra and mans the ramparts as Jupiter begins to retreat from the confrontational edge of aries into the more mellow water of pisces. The pace then softens but the opportunities to take matters at full tilt or get hold of the right connections is then also much less.

The whims, vagaries and loose edges of your really important challenges over the past seven years are now due to be neatened and trimmed, and a period of transformative aspirations is definitely closing and opening into a new chapter of initiation and action. The Uranus through pisces mission is over; it means the testing of the stronger waters you are about to enter moves into ernest intention. You may sink or swim but you certainly should know your own depth and that of others you're involved with. Uranus, it is said, throws out everything it touches. And by that we don't just mean it rejects stuff, we mean it tends to render things out of kilter or out of alinement. It can mean now that you must use your cut and thrust to the purposes you were meant to embrace in a worldly and life sense. That is why Jupiter is magnifying information for you - to allow you to appraise the agenda before gliding through the rest of the year in preparation for bolder brush strokes on the private front which must come from the profound need for certain experience, and to be other than you feel yourself to be currently. In August there is a strengthening of ties with the people you need to take with you and a cutting of ties with those that you don't. And although it may be 2011 before you really feel you are equal or ready for all of this, you are prompted to begin building the pathways somewhat before so as not to be caught on the back foot when things get really started at the beginning of next year. Time moves very quickly nowadays and we tend to perceive in swathes of activity related to consciousness.

September Update

The fact that Saturn has arrived back in your opposite sign of libra signifies a need to realize that the waiting or assessment period around close association, taking place since November 200, is almost over. There have been considerable ups and downs during that time in an attempt to find the right balance around weighty or worldly situations, which by mid-October must be viewed as unsolvable, dissolvable or impossible. It might be the 'elephant in the room' syndrome. Or it might be a case of what can't be cured must be endured. But since we do not like the latter approach - everything can be modified or changed in some way - we would suggest you take a more circuitous route by the end of November and that you use the period between the start of June and the third week of July as the basis for the best of your options. No finer opportunities were shown than in that period, and if you can't quite make use of them now you can at least lay the groundwork for doing so later, or perhaps next year.

The presence of Jupiter in your sign in June/July could not be easily ignored. You would feel you should be doing more, or you may actually have done more, but the time for cutting edge manoeuvre has passed for a while, with the retrograde movement of Jupiter back into Pisces. So until January either you have put into place certain plans or intentions prior to September, or you will soon look to doing so if the area of your personal and private development is not to stagnate or feel like it has tripped you up and you've never recovered your best pace. That may have been the case but the rescue siren has been signalled over the summer, so recognize the form it takes at least.

Mars and Venus in Scorpio through September and October give a powerful depth to all personal and important exchange and in the second week of October, when Venus retrogrades, there is more than ever the need to be a little bit cunning or circumspect to avoid unwarranted dilemmas of one sort or another (probably moral) at the latter end of the month which culminate in setbacks for future planning in late November. The more you can work off your own merit the better, but keeping a chain of communication which allows others to be informed of just how much they ought to know. There is no need to divulge everything as long as you are forthcoming with something. If it is the only way you can assure a smooth landing after a tense year, then so be it. The start to the autumn season is beset by the machinations of Mercury retrograde in scorpio, and there is no tricker combination than that. You need then to be thinking not just seriously, but laterally, to break some of your previously held codes of conduct, maybe covertly, but to understand that discretion is only to be had by dint of silence or subterfuge of one kind and another.
